Creator Agreement
Publishing, monetization, the 60/40 revenue share, and payouts.
Publishing
You may upload and publish a main film and its required trailer after the normal account, media, rights, safety, and policy checks. No payout onboarding is required to publish.
Monetization
Monetization is a separate capability from publishing.
- OpenCinema counts qualified watch time across viewers on your published main films.
- The unlock threshold is 10 hours — 600 validated watch minutes in aggregate.
- Qualified watch time excludes your own playback, trailers, bots, invalid traffic, rejected or removed titles, duplicate or anomalous sessions, and activity that fails the signed playback-event checks.
- When the threshold is reached, you complete OpenCinema-branded onboarding backed by the payment provider approved for your legal country.
- Monetization becomes active only after provider verification, payout capability, tax requirements, and OpenCinema approval are complete.
- Earnings begin with eligible activity after monetization is enabled. The 10 hours that unlocked the feature, and all earlier views, are not paid retroactively.
- If your provider account becomes restricted, monetization pauses. You may continue publishing subject to the normal content rules.
The share
Eligible creators receive 60% of Net Receipts attributable to their monetized content. OpenCinema retains 40% for platform operations, product development, infrastructure, support, safety, and other platform costs.
Advertising
Net Ad Receipts
= settled ad revenue received
- sales, VAT, GST, or similar taxes collected and remitted
- disclosed ad-network or ad-serving fees
- refunds, chargebacks, invalid-traffic, and brand-safety adjustments
60% of Net Ad Receipts forms the creator ad pool, allocated to eligible monetized titles by qualified watch activity.
Premium subscriptions
Premium viewers do not send a payment to an individual creator. 60% of Net Premium Receipts forms the Premium creator pool, allocated by qualified Premium watch minutes:
Film Premium Allocation
= Creator Premium Pool
× (qualified Premium watch minutes for the film
/ all qualified Premium watch minutes in the relevant pool)
Lite subscriptions
Lite subscription revenue remains OpenCinema platform revenue. Lite viewers still see advertising, and those impressions follow the advertising rules above.
Rentals and purchases
Net Paid-Title Receipts
= settled rental and purchase revenue
- taxes collected and remitted
- payment-processing or app-store fees
- refunds, chargebacks, and approved adjustments
Because a rental or purchase is attributable to one title, 60% of the net receipt goes to that title's active legal payee. For now each title has exactly one legal payee.
Paid access
Once monetization is active and your payout account is approved, you may set the main film to free, subscription-included, rental, purchase, or rental-and-purchase. Prices start at 1.00 unit of a supported presentment currency with no product-level upper limit; market, provider, tax, consumer-protection, and fraud controls may still reject or cap a transaction. The trailer stays free in every configuration.
Earnings lifecycle
Estimated → Validated → Available → Paid, with documented Adjustments for invalid traffic, refunds, chargebacks, rights claims, or reporting errors.
Payouts
- Estimated earnings are displayed daily; finances close monthly.
- Country-specific payout thresholds apply.
- Payouts are released only after settlement and reserve rules are satisfied, with a 45–90 day reserve where demand-partner settlement, fraud risk, refund exposure, or local law requires it.
- We do not advance unsettled earnings, and there is no peer-to-peer transfer or stored-value wallet.
